No electricblue, its just a dome shape silver one with one switch,

If it has been switched on when empty the 'cut-out ' will probably have operated and needs to be reset.
Just a suggestion, is it one of those that has a simmer facility?, and its set on that, I ask, because we've got one, my wife bought it, and I didn't know, until I started looking for the reason it wasn't boiling.

Its just a standard kettle, its baffling to say the least...
Sound like it may be the elements gone, unfortunately, if thats the case, you'd be better off buying a new one.
Hi Patricia, If the kettle hasn't got a thermal cut out (little button that pops out to stop it boiling dry) it will probably be as lonnie says, the element,if it is that lonnie is 100% right, not worth repairing, this might sound silly but are you sure the fuse in the plug top is ok?
Sorry Patricia, what an idiot I am of course fuse is ok,cos light comes on, DOH!!!
