is there anything other than expensive masonery piant to paint cement ballastades I think the army ised to paint stone and cement with white wash or lime based wash any ideas how can you mix to make a whitewash or any other methods much appreciated

The problem with lime-based finishes is that once you put them on they not only keep deteriorating to an unsightly appearance so they need constant renewal, but you cannot successfully paint on top of them because even the slightest trace of lime on the substrate keeps crumbling. I would not consider anything but a good masonry paint which in most cases gives years of service against the lime's months.
