Hi,

Is it ok to clean up old files on Drive C, There are loads of internet files, and deleted items, surely it would be better to clean it so that things will run faster and smoother, what's the point of leaving them on there, we do a defragment so why not clean up drive C,

Needless to say I am still learning, and would be grateful for info on it.

If you don't really know what you're doing still, best way to safely delete files like temporary internet files and dustbin files is (in win xp) to go into My Computer, right click on c: drive icon or label and click Properties from the pop-up menu. click on the button that says disk cleanup just below the pie chart showing free and used space. this should compress some old files and give you some options for deleting files, like temporary files, temporary internet files and recycle bin files.
tick/check all the groups you want deleting and click OK, this should do it safely and easily

Or you could use this little program:
