my mum would like a peony plant, when is the best time of year to buy and plant one, thanks for any help

Peonies are lovely but they can be the most awfull sulks especially about being moved. So be prepared for a year or two after planting before they put on a good show.


They're best messed around with when they're not active

I agree with jake, I shifted one once and it took three years until it reappeared and settled down.


As with most perenials autumn and early spring is a good time to plant, before they start to wake up..
