Been trying to get BG to fit a pre payment gas meter in a property for ages .

All I've got is one excuse after another .

Can I approach another provider to change supply and at the same time get them to fit a meter ?

Check out the comparison sites to see which providers in your area are taking on new customers and be aware that you may have to sign up to a contract that is more expensive than you are currently paying.
The fact that you want a pre-payment meter shouldn't be a problem

You may have to pay BG an early exit fee if you are in contract
