how to lay laminate floors

i have laid laminate floors before but i have to lay one with a patterned tile chessboard effect. this means staggering the pattern. i dont get how you do this, since each board is identical, on the second row would i have to cut a tile off to make the pattern "stagger" rather than match?
(badly explained, sorry!)

you've got it....

you need to cut them - just as you did last time since you have to avoid all the "joins" being close to each other.
