Printing every other line yesterday so took out colour cartridge and black printed fine. Today, just printing blank pages. The printer is connected wireless to my apple Ipad. Can someone please tell me what to do? I am not technical, I have looked up HP Customer Support online but it is all very confusing, telling me to uninstall via Windows which I am not using. I just need someone to explain to me in easy language!

Have you tried cleaning the printer - clogged print heads can cause it to print blank pages
on the device’s “Control panel”, tap the “-” button.
Now press the “Right arrow” button.
Choose “Tools” and confirm by pressing “Ok”.
Press the “Right arrow” button and select “Clean Printhead”.
Your HP printer will take a while to perform the cleaning and notify you once the process finishes.
You probably need to clean the print heads, as your post suggests that they've become clogged. (That tends to happen a lot in warm weather, so it's not particularly surprising).

The way to access the head cleaning option varies across different makes and models of printers but the following generic method should get you there with any printer. (NB: I'm assuming that you're using Windows 10. Things are a bit different with earlier versions of Windows):

Click the Start button.

Click the Settings (cogwheel) icon.

Click Devices.

Click Printers and Scanners.

Click on your printer model.

Click Manage.

Click Printer Properties.

Click on the Maintenance tab (or similar - that bit might vary between printers).

Look for a button labelled 'Cleaning', 'Clean Print Head' or similar. Click on it.

Once the cleaning routine has ended, click on the option to print a test sheet. If it prints out correctly, close the window because you've finished. If it doesn't, try the cleaning cycle again. (If you're still getting nowhere, look to see if there's a 'Deep Clean' option and give that a go. In really bad cases of head-clogging, I've sometimes had to run 'Deep Clean' half a dozen times or so).
OP says they are not using Windows?
I'm glad that you're fully awake, Chelle! My brain doesn't really click into gear until well after lunch ;-)

(My instructions will still work, of course, if Smurfchops has a W10 device available as well as the iPad).
It'll be the 6 cups of coffee I've had this morning :)
This happens to me sometimes when the amount of paper in the tray is low

Thanks all, just got back from “big shop” and knackered so will have a go tomorrow and report back x
Go to the HP site and download Print and Scan Doctor. It will easily diagnose and repair any non physical problem.

Hi again, just went into Tools on the device, cleaned the cartridges twice, doesn’t say Clean Printhead, and still blank pages coming through, although a tiny bit of pink, here and there, that’s all. Is it worth buying new black and colour cartridges although they are both about 1/4 full? Surely I wouldn’t get a completely blank page if it was an almost empty cartridge?? I have filled the paper as well. Thanks again.

Is there something I can do through my iPad? Can’t find Printer in settings, sorry I am a bit old for all this ….
// Go to the HP site and download Print and Scan Doctor.//

Unfortunately this only works with Windows. its very good though.

I have a very old laptop, I think it is Windows 7 …. It used to work with the printer, I very rarely use it.
What sort of file are trying to print? Does it happen with everything?
If cleaning the heads once or twice resulted in a tiny bit of pink coming through, it would clearly seem to suggest that the problem does indeed rest with blocked print heads but that you've not cleaned them sufficiently to solve the problem. On quite a few occasions, I've had to clean the heads half a dozen times before noticing any significant improvement. On one occasion I got into double figures before it happened.

Keep trying!

I was printing forms from my iPad, they came thru perfectly two days ago then suddenly stopped. It was only typing (the opt out forms for the doctor, re sharing my medical records). It’s a shame to get a new printer, I very rarely use it. I will keep trying with the cleaning. Can I take out the cartridges and unblock them another way….?? Hot water? Shaking? Not me, the cartridges …. I presume cleaning the cartridges on the devices is the same as cleaning the printhead.
The print head is the bit the cartridges fit into. Cleaning it manually is possible but I'd regard it as a last resort, to be done only if the printer's own cleaning routine won't work:
