Hand Washing Or Not, As It Seems

On a regular basis at work and in public loos, I notice so many people who just walk out after using toilet without washing their hands. Even after the importance of hand-washing is highlighted more than ever now, I noticed someone doing this yesterday at work.

I know I have OCD about hand washing anyway but am I being paranoid and worrying unnessessarily? Maybe I also need to stop watching what other people are doing! Lol

//I notice so many people who just walk out after using toilet without washing their hands//
that's why i never touch the complimentary nuts on the bar in my local

Maybe they prefer to use their own hand sanitizer, tigger.
Useless washing your hands in a loo and then using the door handle...leave using your elbow or sleeve down to cover hand. I've always done this.
I admit to being not a big hand washer normally. In public loos I do at least run my fingers under the tap, because I don’t want people thinking ‘Filthy co w’. Now, I would definitely have a good old scrub when using public loos.
Sometimes people wait until they are outside the bathroom then wash their hands with gel.
I'm practically paranoid about hand-washing. The moment I get in from wherever I've been I wash my hands - and in public loos after I've washed my hands I never touch the exit door with bare hands. I always use a couple of tissues to open the door and then bin them. I hate it when people don't wash their hands. Horrible. Adults shouldn't have to be told to wash their hands.

I also use my sleeve on door handles.
I also keep tissues for opening public toilet doors, I've never understood why supermarkets and large department stores don't have tissues available beside toilet handles and a receptacle bin on the other side of the door. I also carry antibacterial wipes when I go to the supermarkets to wipe the trolley handles which are nearly always sticky, what's caused the stickiness I dread to think.
I don't, pointless washing inside when you have to open the door by handle. always used gel in public.

I've got some gel in my bag but I went to Boots yesterday to get some more and the shelf was empty!

Indeed not. But it seems many people have only just begun to think about it over the last few weeks when the virus scare has been apparent. (Witness the shops being stripped bare of sanitizer, handwash and anti-bacterial wipes).
Tigger, as an aside, how are you ?
There are some dirty *** about.

Utterly disgusting some of them, watched one of them leave after taking a dump without washing. What sort of person (and I use the term loosely) does that?
Apparently a pharmacy near us has started a ‘bring your own bottle and we’ll fill it’ with hand sanitizer, which I think is an excellent idea. I don’t know if they charge for it, they probably do, but at least it’s cutting down on plastic waste if you take your own bottle.

Not bad, Anne x

I've got a history of anxiety attacks so it just hits me every now and then. I've got a GP appt today for this and will ask if I need to start on HRT.

Very good idea, Vagus. I rarely go into a pharmacies but will check if Tesco pharmacy is doing that.
Surely the most germ laden item in the toilet is the flush handle ? Perhaps sinks should be placed inside the toilets.
So you touch the flush, touch the lock to open the door, then wash your hands to get rid of any germs. Simple!

Dirty handles are everywhere. Does anyone know if cleaners clean handles in public areas such as transport etc?
I remember reading years ago that biologists tested a bowl of peanuts from the bar in a pub and found eleven different types of urine in them. Be it riding public transport, travelling up escalators, pushing a trolley round the supermarket, handling money, sitting in a restaurant or opening the door of a shop or a public toilet, that - and more - is what you're touching in public places - and those who don't wash their hands are responsible for it. Disgusting.
