Anybody Darn Socks Anymore?

Just put a toe through mine and inclined to bin it rather than darn it. I've got loads more (mostly odd ones LOL). Would you bother darning it if you were me?

Yes,I have been known too,usually the thick thermo ones,I dont bother with the cheap ones

No, you can get half a dozen socks for the price of not much more than a ball of wool.
Defo NOT! So cheap to buy new ones....
Fabric is recyclable isn't it ?

It's made of bamboo. What could I recycle it into OG? A duster?
Only socks I darn are his walking socks
Use it to wash your car or windows.
I take old socks tie them in a knot a give them to the dogs
no. modern style socks don't darn.
I remember my sister going to school with darned tights.
I've never darned a sock in my life.

Look on Amazon for new ones.
They make great dusters as you can put your hand in them like a glove and dust ornaments etc.
I do....especially my most colourful as they can't be replaced....
I was never taught to darn and wouldn't know where to start. Would never cross my mind to even consider it.
I mend holes in things purely because I like doing it lol
I well remember my grandmother's darning eggs.
Last time I darned socks was for my dad. He would only wear pure wool socks and a lady who lived nearby knitted them for him. She always gave him some spare wool which I used to darn them if required.

Gosh hc, is that the thing my gran used to stick inside the sock when darning it? Shaped like a mushroom?

There were eggs and mushrooms, ladybirder, of different sizes that were used to darn socks. Usually wooden but also made of bakelite. You can still buy them :)
