Well, it works for us - our relations have agreed that each year from now, no presents, but one family will choose a charity, we will all give money to that charity.

Only problem is choosing one of the many deserving causes (it's our turn to choose this year).

Salvation Army?
They’re pretty broad spectrum.
A Homelessness charity e.g Crisis or Shelter
Put some names on paper, put them in a hat, bowl, pan (whatever you've got) and draw one out.
I have it on very good authority that the 'Help Ken4155 Survive The Winter Racing Fixtures' charity is a very worthy cause :-)
Go local BB. Choose something that really needs your money in your community; something that gets kids active, sports, drama or playing musical instruments, something like that. Or a local animal sanctuary if thats of interest to you, or a fund to protect a local building.
Good idea, but opening presents fills a bit of time in the day that would otherwise be spent arguing or fuming. :)

No. It's great of course. Whatever you choose.

Salvation Army sounds good.

Ok, BB.
'Catch a person by his toe.
If he squeals let him go.

Out goes one, out goes two
Out goes another one
And that is you!'

...and so it goes.
Haven't done presents since the kids were little.
