Does anyone know? I want to put a loft conversation/third floor I wanted to put a lower floor in to make the loft into a third floor, I live in an old terraced house, and the ceilings are quiet high, so I would like to lower the second floor to around 6 foot 5 high putting a false floor in, hopefully then laving room knock through and to the loft, is this even possible? And what would I need to look into getting permission for it and what costs could I accept? I'd do as much as possible to lower the costs? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

A 6 foot 5 ceiling would be pretty horrible to live with,(headroom and window height, switches, sockets, fireplace, radiators etc. relative to floor), probably wouldn't meet building regs and be a bit of a liability when it comes to selling. A very big job and very expensive with all your electrics (wires carried in floor space) plus central heating pipes also needing to be moved.

I already have a part false ceiling in one of the corridors, and the height of it is good, the false floor was in before we moved into the house, its just in the corridor, creating a small box type thing about the corridor and under the loft and is used for storage I am hoping to extend it above all or the upstairs to make the third floor, I don't have central heating, or any kind of radiators so there's no problems there, I don't want to lower the first floor ceilings to move it down just the second floor ceilings so I can knock upwards through the ceiling into the loft and open it up to a third floor, I have no idea what kind of structural work would need to be done though and what costs I would expect to fork out, anyone have any ideas on this stuff,
