I make concrete balls as garden ornaments etc, they have various uses, one, is putting them on verges etc to stop cars parking on the grass. I would like to make some reflective so they are easily seen at night. Does anybody have any experience of reflective paint, the best type to use and how effective the paint is and how long it lasts?

Ratter...what you really need for this job is some of that paint-type stuff, that the Council uses for white lines...... I think it has some kind of reflective material in it, that reacts to car head lights.

Togo, the balls vary in size but mostly they will be between 11" and 15" and will be left out all year round. They will be smooth but I also make quite rough balls so they weather well and attract a bit of moss. Mikey, the white road paint sounds like a very good idea, I wonder if could chat to the local council and get some to try. I think it needs to be applied hot, I expect I can get around that somehow.

I can't remember who but somebody was asking a wee while ago about a glue that would stick felt to paperweights.

If that question was answered than attach sparkly material to your balls, at least for the festive season, you could be on to a whole themed range.
Other significant annual events would need more thought, obviously Halloween takes care of itself, but with all these long dark nights ahead a project could be a good thing.
It could turn out to be as big a money spinner as commemorative royal souvenirs.

Impressive indeed, and self made to boot. Mind you it would take big boots to dislodge them. Have you thought about the Ladies in your life perhaps making custom fit coverings from re-cycled hi viz jackets in a fetching lime green( quiete inexpensive these days)? A velcro seam would allow for adjustment when they begin to vary in size during the cold weather. The rough one could have a fleece lining for comfort. I woud not be concerned about moss. Blue Tits will clear that up come spring and if you are able to keep them interested through the Winter they will be eager to render them lichen free come spring. Hot applications can be terminal to cold balls, particularly big cold ones, so I would be wary of "rash"solutions without a scientific set of statistics from Mikey. :))
