I know this is a really icky question, but does anyone know how to get knickers really white?? I mean, how do you get rid of those stains? It doesn't seem to be a stain that washing powders own up to removing!!!!!!

try net curtain whitener by glo care works on my sons icky school t-shirts
If your undies are cotton then I find that a little dilute milton gets rid of "those" stains. Dilute and put on from a sprayer or with a cotton bud as a pre wash treatment

thanks very much! I suppose what works for nappies ....?!
a cup of that vanish oxy action granules in your machine tray works perfect for me. All come out like new
Soak in cold water with a lot of salt in it then wash as normal

add washing soda crystals to your load either in the drawer or in the drum.  You only need about a tablespoon full.  You can also soak things in this too, and I've had good results with milton aswel.  Also, napisan is a good thing too for stains.

Indcidentally, on the whole washing soda thing, if you add a table spoon of washing soda to every wash in the same way as above, you can halve the amount of washing powder you use.  Soda crystals are very cheap and so this is an excellent money saver and they contain no bleach so are much better with colours.

Cool huh!

Or wear panty liners !!
PS  Years ago there was an advertising campaign about 'understains' which those more mature ABers may remember !
wouldn't it just be easier to wear brown knickers :-) sorry!
Spray the icky bit with Vanish and leave for a few minutes, then soak in hot hot water with some Persil in, and add a drop of bleach.  Leave to soak for a while and rinse thoroughly. Smells nice too !
