I often stick wallpaper to my furniture to upcycle them.

I use PVA glue to do this as I think it's stronger but another upcycler I was speaking to uses wallpaper paste.

Which do you think is strongest? Remember it's wallpaper to wood.

Any opinions?

PVA unquestionably. Wallpaper paste will dry to a state where the wallpaper can be readily pulled off the furniture. PVA is used throughout the world in craft projects where a strong, reliable and resilient glue is needed. Neither of them can be regarded as waterproof though so I wouldn't put the furniture outside!

I'd recommend you Google the phrase "Elmer's Glue" for a good overview of PVA glue. Elmer's is probably the leading glue brand in the USA and it'll show you how versatile PVA glue is. There's no need to buy Elmer's as it's much the same as any PVA glue available in the USA. If you want to buy PVA glue at a rock bottom price, look at "No Nonsense PVA" in Screwfix (code 57248) at £9.99 for 5 litres. You can't get much cheaper than that and the stuff can be diluted to the consistency you want.
pva no doubt about it...I did what gumboot suggested and bought a 5 litre flagon of builder’s pva...its good stuff. Jus make sure you keep the cap and the thread clean or you will have fun getting it open.

Thanks guys,

I always use PVA but she insisted wallpaper paste would be just as good but I disagreed (I always like to do the best job I can).

You have confirmed what I thought.
I should have added that diluting the PVA with an equal volume of water will give you the strength and consistency you need to stick wallpaper to wood. Stating the obvious, this will give you 10 litres of glue for £9.99. I'd say that's a bargain. Always add the water to the glue.

Thank you, I'll do that.
