Am I Being Unreasonable?

I was just wondering what others thought. Our neighbours' gardeners come every two weeks on a Friday morning and begin work at 8 a.m. We are retired so don't need to be up early and yet we're woken by the noise of the hedge trimmer, lawn mower, strimmer and leaf blower. It's a horrible way to start the day.

very unreasonable. The bin men come sometimes before 8 on a Saturday.

Just out of interest, what time do you normally surface, FoxLee?

She said in an earlier thread .......8:15 Tilly
Probably a bit unreasonable but I'd still be a bit annoyed. The world seems to revolve around people who work nine to five. When my neighbours moved in, they would start drilling at 9am on a Sunday - just as I was going to bed after working all night. I've got their planned extension to look forward to now and I'm dreading it.
FoxLee, are you really quibbling over 15 minutes, every two weeks?

I do think that is unreasonable.
A good grumble does you the power of good - get it out your system.

Unfortunately the world doesn't revolve around one person - you live in close proximity to other people so occasionally they do things which annoy you - are you absolutely sure you are without blame.......ever?

Oh, for goodness sake, it was a tongue in cheek question. Incidentally, reading through my responses, nowhere have I said I wake up at 8.15. It could be anytime between 8.30 and say, 9.15 but the point is the way you're woken up with a horrible whining noise that goes right through your head. Well, the hedge is trimmed pretty regularly, the mower seems particularly noisy plus strimming edges and a blower for leaves/rubbish.

Oh, our neighbours have tried to get a different time so there.

Anyway, I think this post has run its course. Thanks for all your responses.

Foxy. You've just been given a good kicking by the self righteous mob that inhabits this site ;-)

That's okay - I canvassed opinions and that's what I got. I can still feel miffed if I want to!!
Anything that wakes me up before I'm ready is unreasonable - especially next door's dogs that bark, yelp, whine, snarl, etc pretty much all day from the minute my neighbours choose to get up (and that seems to about 6.30am).
The bloody wife was unreasonable saturday morning...she woke me up rattling around getting ready for work at 6am.
What made it even more unreasonable was that I didn't get in from town untill 3am!
Perhaps AB can instigate a little sign to go with 'tongue in cheek' post then. For the average punter it's very difficult to grasp this with written text -I certainly didn't get the impression it was.
Yes, you are unreasonable.
My ex woke me up on a Saturday morning, knocking down a wall with a sledge-hammer. Moody cow knew I liked a bit of a lie-in before a cup of tea and my Racing Post. (She had all week to do it when I was at work)
:-) svejk - were you Andy Capp in another life?
I have learnt to filter out back ground noise. I don't let it intrude at all. One side effect is I do not hear half of what people say. Don't hear emergency vehicle sirens which can be a problem. Dogs chickens guinea fowl machinery I just do t hear it.
It is a bit inconsiderate, but that's one of the problems with being in a society and having neighbours. You need a detatched house in the country miles away from your nearest neighbour.
