Does anybody have a garden irrigation system (the black hosepipe type which you use above the soil) which you leave out during the winter?  Last year I packed mine away because I was worried about frost damage but it was a lot of extra effort and I'm wondering whether I dare risk leaving it in situ this winter?  Thanks.

We use an extensive system of drip watering.  We have both the 5/8" black weeping hose you describe as well as 1/4" drip feeders for roses.  We have left them out over winters for several years.  The only damage we've had didn't come from wintering, since the hose naturally empties itself, but from U.V. sun rays deteriorating the larger one.  I've figured out a way to repair it though. One caveat, of course, be sure the water source is turned off and drained... but then we have -20F and occasionally -30F here in the western U.S.  Good luck!
