Can do water...can do electricity....but both together has caused me problems....
I think this is electricity free...well I hope so.....☻
Funnily enough, I think our 'earth' is attached to the stopcock
It is electricity free

Never heard of such a thing before.
Don't trust them - they work when installed ... but (in my experience) they don't function properly at a moment of crisis.

Thanks Hc....a plumber told me about those three or four years ago...but I was about to move.

I think it would be a good idea where I am now because of the faff turning off power and water is....x

Ahhh...don't function properly....or don't function at all, Dave?
Don't function at all if there is a big leak - it seems to need a 'back-up' of pressure from within the system to throw the valve - which of course won't happen if there is a big leak ...

I can get mine to work (eventually) in 'test' conditions - so it has some use when working on plumbing - but I do check fairly regularly that I can also turn the stopcock 'just in case'.

Thanks...that could be okay then....

I thought I heard water dripping last night and the thought of getting to the stopcock turned my hair grey....bad enough having to get to the electrics through the car sun roof....

So in that situation....and for planned plumbing work it may be okay?
Easy to fit (push-fit connections)................

They operate by utilising the power of the water main itself. So, as Dave said, if there's a big blowout somewhere, it won't work. In normal circumstances, though, they're fine.

Your problem is that your valve ....... is in a silly place. To site this thing, that may also be somewhere inaccessible. If you can find the pipe run coming FROM your stopcock, perhaps there'll be somewhere much easier to get at.

In that case, I'd just go for one of these.........

Quarter-turn... easy to operate in a panic.

Also............. you could have one of these................

Same as the regular one, but with a remote switch/valve that can be sited 2 metres away from said silly position. It's NOT an electrical switch. It's connected by plastic tubes.
We had one installed a couple of years ago. Recently we had an engineer in for the boiler and he asked where the stopcock was showed him this and he had never seen one before, but pressed the button and it worked a treat. Much easier than trying to get in a very awkward corner where the old one still is.
My aunt had the one one on your last link fitted a few years ago, Builder. Works very well.
