We want to put a downstairs loo in - it is a mid terrace house - confused by the rules now re extractor fans as there is no outside wall to vent to? Advise please??

That can be a real headache, Auntie.

One way is to duct the extracted air through an adjacent room, then through the wall to outside. It's quite common to do this, even with an upstairs bathroom WC soil pipe (same size as a duct.)

Look into that first. As a last resort, it could be ducted through the floor void assuming it's a Victorian terrace with suspended timber floors.
our downstairs one vents out throught hte roof - there was luckily an old vent pipe from a boiler that was there some years ago
