Do we know what caused this Java menace? Seems to have gone now but would like to stop the ads as I expect they are what caused it. Adblock does not seem to work. I.obviously, did not click the link but do not want to expose my computer again. Would be nice to know what happened.

I think most ABers were affected by this over the weekend. Very frustrating. It seems to be ok now but I'd like to know what caused it and to be assured that it won't happen again.

It's something to do within the adbots that many sites use these days, i had similar issues with one or two of my own sites that are not ad free. One of them has two layers, members have the ads blocked non members don't, members did not appear to have the issues while the nmon members did!!

I've made no changes on any of my sites but the problems seem to be cleared

Uninstall Java unless you use websites that specifically need it.

I don't think the rogue Java message discriminated between those who have Java and those that don't, TTG

The internet needs Java, deleting it would do no good, too many websites and apps run Java hence it's an easy adware/malware attack spot... yer stuck with it

I think the truth is that AB is having a few serious problems and is avoiding any comments on the matter. A new thread was posted an hour ago in the technology section which indicates that the Fake Java issue is still with us.
