My wife loves feeding the birds that visit our garden but for the last month or so (and this has not been a problem in previous years) the garden is being overrun by big birds like crow's, rook's etc. We have 2 feeding area's where she puts out loose food, bread and meat ball's but these birds somehow get the meatball feeder's off where they are hanging, open them and 'remove' them and take them away. Also the bread disappears before the other bird's get a chance. Can anyone give us any help on what we can do to either deter these type of bird or make it harder for them to get at the food.

I have a similar problem with Starlings. I'm putting dried meal worms out for Blackbirds but a flock of Starlings clear them in a few minutes.
The best thing is to stop feeding for two or three weeks so the crows and rooks go elsewhere. Try not to use bread, it's not very good for birds
Stop putting out the loose food and meat (fat?) balls for a while. The bigger birds will the look for other sources of food. There is no way I know of to physically scare them away without scaring away the smaller ones as well.
have you got more closed spots where the big birds can't get to?
