the standing charge was £46 and the actual gas used was £10.27, it was from 14/6 to 23/09, so the standing charge is 4 times more than my actual usage, is that normal?
somewhere, it's paid by D/D and so i don't take much notice but when this bill came today it seemed a lot for the quarter, seeing as the gas is only used for hot water.
Has anyone read the meter recently or are all readings estimates? My brother had bills based on estimated readings for seven years, and during that period unknown to him his hot water tank was leaking. End result was a £2500 deficit when an actual meter reading was taken by Eastern Electricity.
it's not the cost of the fuel, it's these standing charges that have thrown me. Why is there so much for gas when the electric standing charge is so low?
If the standing charge is 45p a day that is correct . I am with British Gas dual fuel and there is no standing charge for electricity but there is for gas. 45p a day sounds high mine is £7 a quarter. But you may have cheaper prices for the actual fuel used to make up for it.
I don't understand it, I've been very economical with the gas to keep his quarter bill down and then they go and bang £46 quid on that i didn't expect, it's ridiculous, i'll ring em up on Monday and give em a lambasting
It can't be the first time this has happened unless you have just changed tariffs, the standing charge must have been there before without you noticing.
no according to the moneysaving expert they started 1st may and i don't think i've had a bill since then that included them, if i did i haven't realised. as i said before, it's only when i saw the gas bill was £59 i thought it was too high.
