what would be a good plant to put on a shady area that gets walked on

Bit confused by your question....if its a shady area that gets walked on then the only thing you can really plant is grass. If its in an area where people walk by then Fatsia Japonicas seem to flourish well

if you would like a bushy upright plant... then rhodedendrons done mind the shade.

if you're sfter a climber... then there is a climbing hydrangea called hydrangea petiolaris which has nice clusters of white flowers in the summer.
