I haven't been following EE but see that Dot is up before the beak this week. What's she been up to, then?

I think the rent got in arrears when she was away for a bit, none of her lodgers paid it.

I think one of the most powerful scenes ever in EE was when she 'helped' her lifelong friend, Ethel.
It's good to hear this time it's nothing too serious.

Tanya's mother stayed in her house and said she would pay the rent. She didn't, so Dot is now in arrears and facing eviction.

Unfortunately sandyroe it could turn out to be serious as she was away and left "strangers" in charge of her house,the lodgers did not pay rent and threat of eviction is pretty serious in my book?

It is indeed. The threat of losing ones home, even in a soap, isn't something to be taken lightly.
