I have recently (as in last week) worked very hard and broke a few nails in the process, doing up my front garden.  I've gone from grass to gravel.  I live on a corner in a cul de sac which because of one thing and another you have to drive quite carefully and at a slow speed when turning the corner.  I came home yesterday and much to my disgust someone in a large van (I'm guessing because of the tire tracks) have driven over the edge of my gravelling and made a huge dent. I now have to remove the gravel, resurface underneath and put the gravel back.  Apart from the obvious such as a low fence or putting some 'boulders' on the edge, has anyone had the same problem and do they have any ingenious ideas about how to stop this? I don't mind putting something sharp/damaging down, as far as I'm concerned if they damage their vehicles, good!!!

Get some blocks of wood (a few off cuts etc) and into each block, nail three 6" nails all at right angles to each other. Remove the nail heads witha hack saw, and sharpen to a point. Scatter these liberally around the perimeter of your property.  ;o)

That's assuming you won't mind having the pants sued off you when some poor unfortunate inadvertently trips on one!
we had a similar problem with the grass verge outside our house cars ,vans parking with 2 wheels on the grass 2 on the road.We put a couple of large rockery stones & painted them white a few of the neighbours have folowed suit as we all cut this grass to keep it tidy. it belongs to the council but only gets cut once a month by them.all was well for about a month until a driver ran over one of them she said she did not see it.she apoligised and said she was glad it was not a small child.as she was not paying attention to where she was going, very honest of her we thought.no more problems since.
