I have a mature Ornamental Cherry in my back garden. I also have a 1 year old who likes crawling around. If he were to eat one of the fallen cherries would it harm him?

Difficult to be 100% without knowing the exact species but I certainly can't find any references to it being poisonous - certainly not dangerously so in the way that Laburnum is for example.

The only poisonous cherry I found was the Jerusalem cherry which is not a cherry but a tender perrenial related to nightshade - I doubt it's that!

There was a similar thread on Jasmine recently you might want to check that out

Also bear in mind that even if the fruit isn't poisonous, the pips (or even the whole fruits) will be a significant choking hazard for your tot.
