Neighbours dog using my garden as a toilet

I live in a flat which has a shared garden with downstairs, with only a path down the middle. My new neighbour has a dog who consistently uses my side as a toilet, but he does not consistently clean up after it. I spoke to the landlord and things did improve, but seem to have regressed. At this time of year I'm not at home when there's daylight so I can only really see my garden at the weekend by which time there are usually several piles of **** lying around. I thought about fencing off my bit of garden, but can't really afford that at the minute. What are my options?

Go and talk to your neighbour. If that fails then contact your landlord again.
Its the landlords responsibility to take whatever action is needed.

but if by shared you mean one side of the path the garden is yours and the other is your neighbours then you can start by shovelling up this mess and put it on your neighbours side, see how they like it.
It is an offence for a dog to foul and the owner not to clean it. Speak to your local dog warden and find out whether they have jurisdiction as it is on private land.
I think you'll find nobody is interested as it is on private land.

Do as china says, it's your only option.

Some neighbour you've got though!
This used to be a problem for me. A neighbour's dog contantly poo'd outside my house. In the end I just used to shovel it up and put it back outside theirs. It stopped soon after that.
There is a product you can buy to put down to stop dogs doing their business. I use it in front of my house and it works but needs renewing. You get it in garden centres. Mind you, you may then have another problem as if the dog starts doing its business on his half and he doesn't remove it; it's going to pong and there's nothing you can do than complain of the smell...
I know you say you can't afford the fencing but a small roll of chicken wire should do the trick.

You've already taken the right action by speaking to your neighbour and landlord. Time to take your considerate hat off and put the cr@p in a plastic shopping bag and hang it on their doorknob. With a note if you like, because you don't want to be accused of stealing your neighbour's property, or such.
I would have thought it was in his contract that if there were pets they would have to be looked after and cleaned up after. Another word with the landlord if you can't speak to the neighbour direct. Does the dog get let out on its own - maybe the neighbour doesn't know where the dog is going. Perhaps a quick word saying something like ' don't know if you realise but your dog is using my side of the garden' might do the trick.
