When is the right time to plant roses?

I'm guessing they're in pots (it's a bit early for bare root yet) so it's fine to plant them any time.
Really should be planted in the spring just as the soil warms to about 50 degrees F...
Many people believe it is autumn, because it gives the plant time to get used to the change and put down some good roots. Work some compost into the planting hole. Plant and prune back, and feed well in the springtime. Beware of waterlogged borders after this weather. If you do plant out in autumn, check that it stays secure by gently heeling down on the soil from time to time throughout the winter.
Don't forget ta put a banana and some bone meal in the pot just before you place the rose in.
