Burnt pan

I have a Prestige copper bottomed stainless steel pan that I have just boiled dry with broccoli in it. It is now black! Any suggestions on how to clean it that don't involve elbow grease?

I have heard that if you leave the pan upturned on the lawn overnight it makes it easy to clean. Worth a try. x

Oh, thanks Gness, unfortunately I haven't got a lawn! On the rare occasions that I have burnt pans, I have usually just chipped away and then brillo or pan scourered until eventually it comes right.

When I have had a pan that I have needed to de-gunge I have boiled water and washing up liquid in it.

I think it's to do with the dew Tenrec or someone has been pulling my leg so any bit of ground......local park.

try that stuff that you can get in the cleaning materials section of a supermarket, called "Barman's friend" or something like that. I've had excellent results with it. And if it's any consolation, I'm always burning my pans, especially when I'm making dinner and go off to look at the computer ....

I soak burnt pans in boiling water with soda crystals, works a treat. Check to make sure you can use soda on copper first though.

Gness, that's curious, I feel like burning a pan just to stick it on the lawn to see if it works, mind you, the dog will pee up it!

If you've got any bicarbonate of soda. Put quite a bit in the bottom and just cover with water and leave overnight. Tomorrow, the burnt stuff will come of easily. Worked for me once!

I leave mine in neat bleach overnight, just the burnt bits not the lot. I have heard that if you cook rhubarb in the pan that will work but I have never tried.Why dont you e mail Prestige people ?

Boil for 10 minutes with some biological washing powder. Works every time.
