My outdoor cat litter has exploded

In an attempt to get the cat to do his business outside I bought two long planter saucers and filled them with wood pellet litter. turns out that was a bad idea.

I've just looked in the garden and the stuff appears to have exploded. It's at least quadrupled in depth the top layer has broken down into a fine powdery substance but there is tons of it! What's the best way I can dispose of it? If I try and sprinkle it round the garden (I have no grass) will it eventually just vanish into thin air?

I have no idea what you are going to do.

But thanks for the laugh. ;-)

Just sweep it up and put it down to experience.

ps: perhaps your cat f*rted at a critical moment.

Sorry couldn't resist, exit stage left ☺

If you look closely you can see how shallow the trays are and I'd only half filled them.

I probably shouldn't have kicked the one on the left either :/
lol...it's compostable I think so should break down into soil...eventually :o)
Have they been out in the rain?
This might be a really thick question from someone who doesn't have pets.

You say the your outdoor cat litter has exploded & I've seen the pictures confirming this.

Is it placed outdoors or designed to be outdoors? If it's the former then I'm not surprised it's 'exploded' because it's designed to absorb moisture.....and we've had a lot of that......

If it's meant to be an outdoor litter (What The Funicular?) then I apologise.

Yep. For some reason I'm dumb enough not to think about what happens to wood when it gets wet.

Lol, I just answerd your question I think Eccles. I was trying to be inventive. Anf failed.
My two like really deep litter trays, Frankie digs in it for ages after he has 'been'. He then wipes his paws on a towel - did you remember the towel?
Thank fck for that, I was trying to find a really polite way of saying 'You daft bat, of course it's exploded...!'
prempted by Tilly. If they trays have been left out in the rain that is the most probable cause of the "explosion" I've found cat litter tends to expand when wet. You might want to consider putting them under some sort of cover if you plan to leave them outside.
File it down to "It seemed like a good idea at the time".

No towel, but there's quite a distance from them to the house so he tends not to have anything on his paws by the time he gets in.

Anyone want to buy half a bag of wood pellets?
It's only sawdust. Dig it in or sprinkle it on the grass. It'll be fine.

Maybe I'll say it's my new compost heap and chuck all my old tea bags down there. :)
Keep it for the "summer" and use it on your barbecue :-)
'I was astonished to see next door's cat in my garden yesterday, burying its mess.'
'That's OK, most cats do.'
'Yeah, but with a shovel?!!'
lol chuck it at the end of the garden and it will go eventually - then buy a cheap bag of compost and use that - that is how I trained my old cats to go outside.
Hilarious Evian... Thanks!!!!
