I've just asked my OH as he has very recently had all the chrome bumpers re-done for a classic car he's been doing up. Sorry though, he went red, laughed and wouldn't tell me what he spent so obviously a lot.
Chroming plating is not cheap; it is a specialist process of several operations to do properly (including a base coat of copper) and you probably need to trawl for a local specialist plating organisation.
I used to work in an electro plating shop. There are very few Chrome plating shops left as the process is highly toxic , the waste has to have very expensive treatment before it can be recycled.
Just the initial Copper plateing has to be done in a bath of Cyanide and the nex stage of Chrome plating is even more toxic ! Before it could be plated the old plate has to be stripped off in hot concentrated acid. You are talking £100s if you can even find a place that still does Chrome plate at all.
If it helps and you're in the south partner found specialist chrome platers in Twickenham, Bristol and Poole.
Agree it will be expensive, if you can find anyone still doing it.
