Hi All
I purchased a Beko Frige from Comet in October last year so that makes it 5 months old. This morning there is no light in the fridge and it has no noise to tell me that it is running. Iv telephoned Comet breakdown and they have asked me to check the fuse but i cannot do that until my husband comes home from work as it is too heavy for me to pull out. I asked when an engineer could come out if it's not the fuse and she told me that it would be the end of next week!!!!!. I cannot do without a fridge for over a week. As it is only 5 months old does anyone know what rights i have for getting it replaced. I paid by credit card. Thanks in advance

Does sound like a fault in the plug or fuse , is there no one you can ask to help you check.

Eddie51, thanks for replying. My husband will be home around 18.30pm so he can check it then. The service department is open until 8pm. It just the thought that its going to be over a week before they come out to it if it's not the fuse.
a fridge should not blow a fuse ,
if it has then keep an eye on that fridge and get it seen to by comet if it does blow again before the warranty runs out,
As deggers says a fridge should not blow a fuse. If it is 5 months old you have your statutory rights but Comet are not saying they will not send an engineer, just that it will be over a week. I think your best (quickest) bet, after the fuse has been checked is to use your negotiating powers with Comet and get them to send an engineer with some urgency, talk about a possible claim for damages and/or their poor reputation. Check your guarantee to see if they give a maximum time for an engineer to call.
Your payment by credit card will offer some protection as they can be held responsible for defective goods and services, if the cost was between £100 and £30,000 but a claim will take time and Comet are not refusing to provide a service, they are just providing a slow service.
