I've been wondering for a long time if anyone else has noticed that in E/Enders and Corie no-one seems to have any carpets, you constantly hear the clack of shoes on bare floors even in the Rovers, I've never seen a pub without a carpet. We're past 'Spit & Sawdust' times aren't we?
I know its daft but it bugs me.

It's probably the stone floors ..times are hard now with recession,
burnt all carpets and wooden floors..
Question Author
Pretty sure they're wooden floors (Sound like it)
The pub I worked in had wooden floors - the original floorboards from when it was built.

So dose one of the others in the village.
I can't remember the last time I went into a pub that had a carpet!

Bare wood and stone floors seem to be more popular, and easier to clean. I'm not referring to just trendy bars; country pubs and local pubs both have eschewed carpets in my experience.
I've never noticed a dearth of carpets...............that's all I'll be looking for tonight now.
I'll tell you what bugs me - Kevin Websters purple jacket
Hes had it years and theres no sign of a rip or tear or speck of oil and hes supposed to be a mechanic
What about Hayley's red anorak then in Corrie, must have been the biggest value for money item - she's been wearing it for YEARS!
Yeah but Hayleys the type to look after her clothes
I'd bet her knicker drawer is all in order
you must live in the town!!
We rural folk have plenty of pubs with no carpet...that way walkers can visit with muddy boots...and dogs can be welcome too!

Its all laminate flooring now
No carpets in my locals either - and the screech of the chair legs being dragged across the floor is worse than chalk on blackboard.
I spend half my time sitting on the floor to watch TV in my lounge (always have done - OH reckons I must have been a cat in a previous life, ha ha!!) Think how uncomfortable to sit on laminate flooring without a lovely spongy carpet .........
It's not on tonight, craft. Football instead.

headwreck. I won't be inviting you to may place them, I lay on mine - zzzzzzz !
Its not so much the Pubs that bug me, its the way everyone wears their shoes/boots in the house,

Tanya in EE is the worst for clonking around in her high heels. Whenever they want to go out they just jump up & leave the house. I have to go and get my shoes & coat from the hall, find my keys, bag & mobile!

I suppose we are getting back to that old poetic license again!!
cant say there are carpets in my locals either
Never been in a pub without a carpet? You need to get out more Jem.
Agree 4get. Proper pubs don't have carpets!!

But I too like carpets to lounge about on at home. Laminate floors just don't have the cosy factor!!
