Not So Much "How" but "Why"?

When Google Street View went live, they had filmed our street early in the morning when nobody was about, our car was on the drive and our bedroom curtains were closed. I just looked at it again and they have re-done just the bit by our house. You come along the street (from either way) and there is the car on the drive, but as you get close, the car is on the side of the road and my Hubby is on the drive doing some DIY. He has his back to the road so didn't see the camera car. Why would they have re-done that bit and not the rest?

Maybe the technology is clever enough to only change the bits that are different, rather than updating it all.

So if the car goes along the road photographing everything, and most of it is the same, nothing changes. But if something is "new" it gets updated.

Funnily enough I noticed this just a few days ago.

There is a major road where I live in Birmingham where a load of new buildings are being built. When you are at one end on Google maps street view none of the buildings are there, but as you move along the road the buildings all of a sudden appear.

As you rotate round the buildings come and go, it is really strange.

Here is a link (which I hope works). Just step alond the road following the yellow line, and new buildings appear on the left and right (you may need to rotate a bit to see them)

I guess this must be happening quite a lot now. On Streetview, my pick-up truck is at my house.............. but if you scroll a few miles over, it's outside a house I'm working on :o)
Who said a good builder can't be in two places at the same time?

Thank you VHG, I guess that must be the explaination.
hmmmmm.. mine's changed too. not the actual view, but you can't stop right outside my house any more.

I'm sure it's stalker-related ;o)
VHG - there is something called "AB Row" on your map - now either you put it there or big brother is watching us and he put it there. ;-)
They're checking on you. They're on to you.

Yes it is a very short road, only about 100 yards long.

Much debate in the city about how it got its name. Most likely explanation was that years ago it was on the boundry between Aston and Birmingham (A and B)
My grandson googled our house and I can be seen sitting at the coffee table using my laptop. May even have been on AB you never know.
