In my cross stitcher's magazine I am given the fabric I need in centimetres and the picture frame in inches.

Is there any special reason for using both these measurements and not just one type?

Personally I think they do it to annoy me....but people have said that I am paranoid....
crazy...but a lot of frames still seem to be sold in 'photo sizes' like 7" x 5" while fabric is pretty much all metric now

Both answers make sense ......... I guess. hmmmmm
I don't know of any reason and it doesn't make a lot of sense. B & Q sell timber sheeting, 8'X 4' but 25mm thick.
It might be to do with where the pattern is imported from - if USA or Canada, it will still be imperial. Kinda ironic considering the pains the US went to not to be under the Empire...
I work out everything in Imperial then convert it into metric before I buy it, because that's what most of the shops want.
Went into a shop the the other day armed with my metric shopping list, only to be asked 'What's that in feet and inches then?'
Some Imperial sizes still remain in lots of areas, although they often are quoted in metric.
Happens in my job all the time, Stitchers. Luckily, I'm bi-lingual :o)

Remember this is England. We never do anything fully. It's always a compromise ............. trying to keep everyone happy.
