Anyone got any ideas as to where my stopcock might be located? I've checked in all the usual places...under the sink, in the cupboard, bathroom, outside, but no joy.

Any other suggestions for it's hiding place will be grately received......

Got ya....lol
You mention a 'handle' in the loo, have you turned that off and tried to run the cold tap?? That is where mine is.
If it stops your loo filling then it is stopping the water coming in.
Have you tried what Dave suggested? Just inside the front door?

I ran the water, Mamya, but it was still coming out my taps but toilet didn't refill when I flushed. Run for a bit longer?

There's no hatch in my front door, Umm
odd if it stops the toilet refilling but cold tap still running full flow?

Obviously that is the case here, but not in my case - mine is a stopcock handle for water entering property full stop.

everything is out, doc, new kitchen being put in so nothing but a cooker and the sink carcass has been in there since Saturday. New kitchen installation started today. Just home and seen what's been done and I'm chuffed to bits with it :D

Call a plumber. They can freeze the inlet and fit a new tap without needing to find the stop.

Found it! Thanks for the advice, everyone :o)

in a little hatch in the wall near the bottom of my stairs. I followed the pipe from under the sink, it went through to the bathroom and into the under the bath. Took off the bath panel to discover the pipe took a nosedive down. I went down the stairs looking for a clue and find the hatch. You wouldn't know it was there, no handle or anything, just a faint line where its embedded in the wall. Stanley knife came out to break through the paint and out popped the plasterboard.

a very random place for it and I've never noticed in the 4 1/2 years I've been here that the wall had a little square.

blimin thing won't turn though, I've drowned it in WD40 country and ease it up.

WD40 country?? Hahaha, I'm using my tablet and dont think I'll ever get used to the keypad :|
Only one I have is in the corner of the front garden. There was a tap on the pipe going upstairs but that was a fat lot of use when wanting to work on pipes downstairs. Can't really get to that one now anyway as it is at the side of a kitchen base unit in a corner.

If yours is outside it may take some searching for among the plants.
Ah I see you've found it. Good.

I think once my house is back in order I'll install it under the sink, I don't want a crack in my wall on the stairs in the off chance I spring a leak. Its pretty low on the priority list though lol.

thanks doc xx
