....A simple question...In the UK lightbulbs come with a choice of four fittings...large and small bayonet and large and small Edison screw...Why are they not all the same???:-)

I think it depends what you are using the bulb for, some bulbs are fitted on items that may vibrate which can cause a particular fitting to loosen, likewise some light fittings are specific for one type of fitting because of a size issue (like some types of torches)
