Replacement Manhole Cover

I need to replace a steel manhole cover on my concrete driveway. The lip of the cover has corroded away and the manhole lid is starting to buckle and the surrounding concrete is breaking away. Is it a hard job (I am a fairly competent DIYer)? Are the manhole covers in Wickes and B&Q up to the task as they seem to have small lips for the manhole to sit in and my car goes over it each day? Any help appreciated. Its not going to be an exciting weekend for me!!!! Thanks

I have a galvanised manhole cover in my drive which has been there about 10 years now (I think?) and it's still looking good.
Mind you, it is in the centre of the drive so it doesn't have to support a car but I'm sure it would if necessary.
Any chance of moving yours sideways a bit??

Hi Wak. Whilst the car doesn't sit on top of it when parked it unfortunately has to drive over it to get up the drive n no way around that. Just concerned that daily movement over it may weaken it. If the lip of the drain could be bolted in the no probs but it doent have that option. Happy to spend more for a decent manhole but cant find a place that sells them.
This one at Wickes looks OK and the reviews are promising.

Any builders' merchants would have them, gg. They're rated by carrying capacity...... 1 tonne, 5 tonne etc. They'll have one to suit you.
Very simple job. You'll have no problem :o)

I thinks my biggest worry is the cover actually moving once fitted as no bolt fittings etc to secure. Hey ho, nothing ventured nothing gained!
