I just read that the annual thinning of the ozone layer that helps protect the earth from ultraviolet rays is much thinner than usual this spring above the subarctic and arctic. How
will this affect our day-to-day life here in the subarctic (alaska) e.g. gardening, weather, etc.

I must add that the mainstream media has not picked up this news yet. Thank goodness for the internet.

you might like to wear more sunscreen outdoors. Won't change the weather as such but the sun will be more dangerous to your skin.
It is actually quite serious. Amongst other issues, pondlife and algae are sensitive to overexposure to UV rays which in turn effects the following food chain.
