noisey neighbours - recording them

hi, i have a problem with disrespectful noisey neighbours. they have ignored my requests (both written and verbal) to keep their noise down. my next step is my management company (i live in a flat) and the local council. however i wish to record the noise they make. has anybody done this, and what is the best machine to do it with. I want to purchase something that records the noise well, and can record for a long time - i want to build some really good evidence of the stress they are causing me. thanks.

A relative of mine contacted the local council about noisy neighbours and they supplied a machine to record the noise

you need to tell the Environmental Health people at your local authority. they can do any recording that is necessary.
