we moved into a "new"(for us )house last year and there is a conservatory attached to the back.It has a sloping roof with polyunits.We are thinking of getting some one to roof over it and fit velux windows to make it warmer for next winter as we us it as a sitting room.
Has any one any idea if this can be done.and will the walls need to be reinforced.One wall used to be an outside wall and one is attached to the kitchen.

The walls will certainly have to be reinforced and you may have to get planning permission - it will no longer be a consevatory

No Ben, Building Regs haven't changed - not in this regard. You are probably thinking about Planning Permission.
The change in PP impacted the rules for Permitted Development, but if it was OK before under planning guideleines, that won't change by changing the roof.

What WILL definitely change is that it needs Building Regulations approval - and particularly it will need to satisfy the thermal requirements, and the calcualtions to show the loading on the roof will be needed.

Oh, and the roof structure and walls will need to be stronger because tiles are very weighty.
