All solicitors have now all contracts (3 in the chain). How does it take them to exchange contracts? How do they do it? (fax copies across?)

Usually by telephone. There are special Law Society formulae which impose personal obligations on solicitors so each can be sure that hard copies will reflect what they agree- one of the beauties of English law is that the system works almost always without problems.
I'd love to know how long it takes you. All the contracts in my chain were in place two weeks ago and still no movement from the solicitors... Suspect they have taken on more work than they can cope with.
