My son is having a ground floor side and rear extension built on his semi. He has planning permission etc and has accepted a local builder's quote.
The foundations will be 1m deep, which is apparently 10cm deeper than the affected neighbour's garage foundations. To appease the cautious neighbour my son has agreed to pay for a surveyor of the neighbour's choice to look after his ( neighbour's) interests.
I have advised my son to get confirmation that the builder has Employers and Public liability insurance cover and to check that his own house insurance includes PLI.
Is this enough protection for my son, or is there anything else he should do ? One can't be too careful about claims these days.

Cheers.
