I read somewhere that, if you can't sleep, the best thing is to get out of bead and go downstairs, so as not to make the mental association between the bed and being sleepless.
Find something to keep you busy until the next 'wave' of sleepyness hits, then go back to bed.
There was also something the other day blaming excess blue light (as output by many computer screens) for people failing to get to sleep. Try changing the desktop colour scheme. (I'm skeptical but try it and let us know).

haven't heard that one about blue lights. if it start tossing and turning nad can't seem to get comfy i do come downstairs and get a drink. don't want to disturb OH. he thinks he is hard done by if he doesn't 8 hrs sleep each night and that can be dosing in front of the telly. i think i'm lucky if i get 4 hrs and no dosing. we all have different needs of sleep.
i made about 9 lbs raspberry jam yesterday afternoon. i'll have to give some it away we've got too much jam already. pity is i don't know many people in the village. we'll have to put it about an inch thick on toast.
