Apparently the new Hotpoint washing machine has inbuilt stain removal technology. What is that and why has it only just been discovered?

Washing machines are wonderful these days.
How does it know where the stain is?
I thought the whole point of washing machines was to remove stains from your clothes?

What the heck have they been doing all these years?
New technology, Stargazer.
oh, has it got my mum in there?
Well, I thought the detergent was the most important part of stain removal....and so do the testers at Which? labs.
They must then recommend a new improved washing powder/liquid?
jno, I love the idea of every washing machine having a tiny little Mum inside!

Maybe I can get one for my oven.
"What is that and why has it only just been discovered? "

Why hadn't you discovered it before? The idea was out there for anyone to discover.

Conducting searches and experiments. people are making new discoveries and coming up with new ideas and inventions.

I couldn't do without my washing machine.
Furthermore, it has also been programmed to wash clothes.:-)

Al.
I have just changed out my 10 YO washing machine and I have to say that the new one does wash better than the old one did at the same temp using the same detergent.
It reminds me of when i first started buying nappies (i had a baby. Not strange hobby) and nappies were for girls or boys.
Then there was a big fuss and you could get "boy nappies" and "girl nappies" with padding on different places.
Not long after that, there was a big fuss that you could now buy "unisex nappies."
So back to square 1 then?!
To be slightly more serious, I would imagine it offers more precise control of water intake, rotation/reversal and all sorts of other things.

I'm prepared to believe that that might make a slight difference but can't help feeling it's mainly snake oil.
