Have been sitting here for an hour, haven't got very far with this today .

"Founded 750 years ago, 30 years before its more popular neighbour, this city was once the hub of production of a lucrative commodity. Today, tourists arre beginning to flock here for temples, treks, boat trips and acess to more remote selltements. A highlight of the calendar is a p olo championship with a gigantic twist. Name the city.

The four pictures are:
a) two girls in traditional dress
b) a white pagoda with a blossoming tree in the foreground (cherry blossom?)
c) a bit of a tumble down building on "stilts" set in to a hillside
d) elephant polo.

I know they do elephant polo in Nepal, but Nepal isn't a city, is it?

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks. Chox.

How about Chiang Rai, Thailand? The white temple is there, and the city was founded in 1262. I think the (elephant) polo championship referred to is the King's Cup, but I've an idea it may have moved somewhere else. Chiang Rai was once centre of opium trade (the "lucrative commodity")
