Net Curtains

Can anybody tell me the correct way to measure for net curtains. My Mum used to tell me how to do it but forgot and she no longer here. Do u double the width so u have plenty of gathers. any help would be appreciated tia.

If the net is heavily patterned I would only go for l 1/2 times the width. Otherwise they will be too 'dense'.

Very good point kath, I made that mistake last year & had to go round cutting off yards. (my g/children love it for playing weddings)
