I have stainless steel cutlery which is now turning black , how can I clean it, I use a dishwasher

Try rubbing a dishcloth dipped in vinegar over the cutlery ... avoid, however, any abrasive cleaning materials...

stop putting your cutlery in the dishwasher as this tarnishes stainless steel and makes it rust. my parents have had this problem with an expensive set they bought, so they now wash all their cutlery by hand.
