I'm about to buy a new bed and can't believe how many options there are when buying a mattress!!! (pocket sprung, miracoil, memory foam etc etc) I've always lived at home before so never had to buy my own before. At home I have an ikea mattress which is really comfy but only fits continental size beds. I'm probably going for a standard UK kingsize bedframe or divan base and need to choose a mattress. Silentnight have been recommended to me - does anyone have a favourite brand? It's a big expense and I want to get it right first time...

i bought an mfi own brand bed when i first moved out of home, and i regret it now, as it has become one of the most uncomfortable ever! i have since bought a silent night one and it is lovely. my friends have recently bought one of the memory foam ones and say it is great.

I bought a new bed about 6 months ago and it's the best 400 I have ever spent.
I got it from Muji. It's made from lovely wood, is really sturdy and the mattress is great. They gave me 20% off for come reason and I got the whole lot with free delivery.

We alwas buy Reylon Beds. the best ones we have ever had.
We presently have a memory foam one and it is lovely. It was a generic version ( not Tempur.) and in a modern(ish) centrally heated home it is brill. The only people we know who have one the don't like live in a rambling, old , too expensive to heat properly house - they say until it warms up it is like sleeping on a rock slab. We put a sampleblock in the fridge - I can see where they are coming from!
I renew our bed quite frequently and before this one I have to say that the nicest one was indeed a Silentnight no roll together number.
Hi SRH,

There is no answer to this question.

You will receive lots of recommendations as to what other people prefer, but, they might not suit you. For instance, if you are a warm person or suffer from hot flushes then forget the Tempur beds or memory free foam. They are deadly.

Go for the best bed that you can afford and purchase it from a company who will let you exchange it if you are not happy.

VI Spring beds are excellent and will exchange if you you are not happy with them. The only drawback is that they are expensive.

Regards
The best bed of all is a Vi-Spring but they are expensive. Once you have slept on one you will never be satisfied with anything else !!!!!
There's no such thing as the perfect mattress. Each has their benefits and drawbacks. Memory foam and latex are the most advanced types because of their body contouring and pressure relief abilities but they're also very expensive.

Hope it helps.
