I'm bewildered by advice (shark are great, dyson are rubbish or dyson are great etc).  So from a purely engineering pov which are the most powerful stick vacs and what are the figures I should be looking for

As always many thanks for any advice- it is gratefully received

Here you go.  This is the best.

LB, that article is from 2022. There might have been new ones out since then that are better.

I've checked the Which? website and that model is rated the best one still.

True Barsel.  I'm a big fan of Miele, their stuff is always excellent as far as I'm concerned.  I can't find a newer one than the one I posted.

We had a dyson cordless but it didn't last long enough to warrant the cost. We now have a shark which is good, but not so easy on stairs.

We also have a miele cylinder vac which is excellent , particullarly in picking up dog hair as we have a prolific shedder. ( a golden retriever)

Yes, Corby has confirmed its still, 'Simply the best'.🎵

I really can't complain about our Shark.

I bought an expensive cordless Shark for downstairs and a slightly cheaper GTech for upstairs because they were meant to be good and lighter to manoeuvre but what a faff they are. They are OK for a quick whizz over the carpet but need emptying pretty much every time I use it and they are like 3 leagues below my corded Miele cat & dog for efficiency & power. The downside is it is very heavy to drag around :-(

I don't believe any cordless yet can come close to a corded for suction power (and ease of changing tools).

I've got the Miele Cat & Dog and it's seen me over many years and different cats and dogs.

This interests me as were in the market for a new one. Had 2 Dyson in the last 10 years, they were OK, but if there's something better out there then I'll look at that.

We also have the Miele Cat and Dog for upstairs and stairs carpet, and would agree that they are unrivalled.

Downstairs has no carpet so I don't want to keep dragging a corded, heavy machine out to to a bit of spot hoovering.

Just been on Miele website - that 'can I help you' is so annoying

What 'can I help you thing'?  I've just had a look at the website, clicked on a vacuum, clicked 'buy now' and haven't seen that.

Nothing is as strong as corded

Strangely (as Which? will tell you), those vacuums with the greatest measured suction don't necessarily clean the best.

There's much more to it than suction.
