How light is the room? I'd be going for something boring like a creamy magnolia with all the darks stuff. I just painted a dark room with Dulux Light and Space paint and the effect was amazing, much lighter.
Hmmm.

I suggest googling 'plum curtains' and clicking on the 'Images' option. You'll then see lots of pictures of plum-coloured curtains, set against various backgrounds.

I've just done that and I'm drawn towards a sort of pinkish-grey colour, such as 'Pink Bunting' here:

(Hover your mouse over the colours to see the names. Click to see a colour in a room setting, together with a complementary colour which goes well with it).
Paint all walls magnolia or white.
soft rose or pale coffee you will need a splash of something brighter as it will look very sombre I'd probably use a deep rose pink or maybe a metallic pewter tone for vases cushions etc
